The New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against each other in the AFC championship this weekend. It was a matchup for the ages.

It was the “greatest of all-time” quarterback Tom Brady versus the young phenom for the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes. Two great coaches in Bill Bellichek and Andy Ried. The game lived up to its hype as well, ending in overtime with a Patriots win by 37-31.

The game has also received plenty of hype on social media and on television. Per CBS, the game drew over 53.9 million viewers. That's twice as many viewers as the AMA's received last year. It also got three times as many total viewers as last year's Major League Baseball World Series and NBA Finals games last year. Every sports fan seemed to be tuned in to watch it.

The game ended up being very close, the Chiefs drove down the field in the fourth quarter with less than a minute left. Mahomes worked his magic and was able to get his team into field goal position.

He had one of the best performances of his career, something that fans and analysts alike won't forget. He threw for 295 yards with three touchdowns and gave up no interceptions. He was in control the entire game. However, the Chiefs defense only slowed down the unstoppable duo of Brady and Rob Gronkowski. They drove down the field time and time again.

Though Brady only finished with 348 yards with only one touchdown and two interceptions, they got the ball in the overtime and never looked back. The running backs Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead combined for four touchdowns and 154 yards rushing. The Chiefs defense simply had no answer for the run.

The Patriots will now face off against the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl.
