Pat McAfee is continuing his post-NFL retirement ascension as one of the most influential people in sports media. According to Front Office Sports and Michael McCarthy, Amazon is trying to add Pat McAfee to their team beginning in the 2022 season.

McAfee would broadcast Thursday Night Football in a manner similar to ESPN's ‘ManningCast' that features legends Peyton and Eli Manning. Beginning in 2022, TNF games will be featured on Amazon Prime Video rather than CBS or the NFL Network.

After a successful eight-year career as punter that included two Pro Bowl appearances, McAfee has become just as good in the media industry. After doing stuff with Barstool Sports, he then turned to his own show, the ‘Pat McAfee Show' through YouTube and SiriusXM. Since, his show has blown up, including several notable moments like superstar Aaron Rodgers making weekly appearances.

As for ManningCast, the two brothers began the alternate Monday Night Football broadcast in 2021. After a successful first stint, the pair will broadcast a total of 20 games on ESPN over the next two NFL seasons. They typically feature four guests on each episode, which is filled with their own expertise from their personal playing days.

It's offered a new, innovative way to watch football for fans. ManningCast averaged 1.58 million viewers per game in 2021. While it's unclear whether McAfee will do this gig and what it would mean for his show, it seems to be worth the effort. McAfee would likely draw in a similar amount of people for TNF games, as he seems to be beloved by most NFL fans.
