Superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown did not have the best 2019 season. After a number of off-field issues, the season ended with him appearing in just one game all year (with the New England Patriots).

Later, he was handed an eight-game suspension that will begin when the 2020 season starts. And now, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network on Twitter, that suspension could be extended.

Currently, Brown's eight-game suspension was for “two other personal conduct issues” and if more information comes out against him, it could absolutely be changed to something more serious.

This brings to question the future of Brown's career for a few reasons. First of all, it appears a lot of teams are already afraid to touch him.

Yes, he's one of the best wide receivers in football over the last decade. However, he brings a lot of trouble too.

Brown has already proven to be a problem in the locker room and a major distraction. He would also bring a lot of bad PR to any team that signs him.

Of course, they would also have to worry about how often he would actually be available to play. And they would be signing someone that is likely one strike away from never being allowed to play in the NFL again.

Then there is his retirement. Brown has already announced his retirement multiple times on social media. Recently, he has stated that he wants to play in the NFL again though.

That being said, if more comes out in the case against him things could change. Brown could decide to step away from the spotlight altogether. Or the NFL could sort of force his hand.

If the suspension is raised to a full season, Brown is definitely not getting signed in 2020. It's hard to imagine any team would be jumping to sign him any time soon after that either. Effectively, he would be out of the league.

Because of that, Brown might just decide to walk away “on his own terms” instead of letting the teams decide it for him.

Right now, Brown has just an eight-game suspension. Something bigger might be coming his way though – and it is not a good look for the rest of his career.
