The NFL lost a legend with the passing of John Madden on Tuesday. The former coach and broadcaster was instrumental in boosting the popularity of the NFL over the years, with his video game franchise also playing a key role. Madden touched the lives of so many around the league, and Brett Favre was one of those people.

Favre's starring days for the Green Bay Packers effectively coincided with the creation of the Madden video game series as the broadcaster reached superstardom. Madden called a ton of Favre's games, and they built a close relationship over the years.

The Packers legend reminisced about his relationship with Madden in his tribute:

Madden and Favre wound up retiring at around the same time. Madden retired from broadcasting in 2009, while Favre initially retired in 2008 before returning to the NFL that same year and then retiring for good after the 2010 season in early 2011.

These two NFL legends were a part of many special moments together. Favre will never forget all those memories that he had with his “dear friend.”
