Colin Kaepernick isn't viewed as a hero by many people, but Brett Favre seems to believe he should carry that title. In an interview with TMZ Sports, Favre spoke out on how he believes Kaepernick will be regarded as a hero:

“It's not easy for a guy his age — black or white, Hispanic, whatever — to stop something that you've always dreamed of doing, and put it on hold, maybe forever, for something that you believe in,” Favre said.

During the 2016 NFL season, Kaepernick chose to kneel during the national anthem. In doing so, Kaepernick was speaking out against racial injustices and other social issues.

At the same time, his message was misinterpreted by people that believed he was disrespecting the flag. As a result, he became a distraction in the NFL and the league publicly disagreed with his stance on kneeling.

Colin Kaepernick would then be blackballed by the NFL, with no teams expressing interest in him since he opted out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers after 2016. Therefore, he essentially sacrificed his career in the NFL to use his platform for good. Recently, Roger Goodell urged teams to sign the free-agent quarterback.

Fighting and speaking out against racial issues is something that Favre commends Kaepernick for. Also, Favre took it a step further, comparing Kaepernick's situation to the one of Pat Tillman:

“I can only think of right off the top of my head, Pat Tillman is another guy that did something similar,” Favre said. “And, we regard him as a hero. So, I'd assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”

Tillman gave up his career in the NFL to join the military. The former NFL safety would be shot and killed in friendly-fire while being deployed in Afghanistan.

While some disagree with his views, Colin Kaepernick has taken a hard stance to combat racial injustices. Even if he doesn't play in the NFL again, Favre believes Kaepernick will be commemorated as a hero someday.
