Brian Flores is reportedly amending his lawsuit of racist hiring practices against the NFL, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos.

According to Mike Floro of Pro Football Talk, Flores is revising the lawsuit to include the Houston Texans. Flores and his camp will reportedly add a retaliation claim after the franchise has been accused of spurning the veteran tactician because of his lawsuit to the NFL.

Per Floro:

In addition to the pending claims against the league, the Dolphins, the Broncos, and the Giants, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the case will be amended to state a retaliation claim against the Texans for failing to hire Flores.

To recall, Brian Flores was said to be a finalist for the Texans head coaching job along with Josh McCown. However, the team opted to promote defensive coordinator Lovie Smith to the position at the last minute.

While Flores shared he is happy that the Texans hired a Black coach, he fired back at Houston and accused them of denying him the chance to return as a head coach because of his lawsuit. Flores' camp claimed that it was the only reason he was not hired for the position.

“Mr. Flores is happy to hear that the Texans have hired a Black head coach, Lovie Smith, as Mr. Flores' goal in bringing his case is to provide real opportunities for Black and minority candidates to be considered for coaching and executive positions within the NFL. However, we would be remiss not to mention that Mr. Flores was one of three finalists for the Texans' head coach position and, after a great interview and mutual interest, it is obvious that the only reason Mr. Flores was not selected was his decision to stand up against racial inequality across the NFL,” a statement from Flores' camp reads.

It remains to be seen how the NFL and the Texans will respond or address the new development in the lawsuit. However, as Roger Goodell said recently with regards to the “very disturbing” allegations and issue, they are taking the matter seriously and will respond appropriately when all facts are gathered.

Certainly, by the looks of it, the issue is far from being over and could be a major talking point in the offseason.
