Superstar quarterback Cam Newton was released from the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason. Obviously, that has led to a lot of speculations in the NFL.

A player of Newton's caliber generates a lot of buzz, and suddenly people are linking him to basically any team with any type of need at quarterback.

However, it has been a little while now and Newton still hasn't signed with anyone. In fact, fans haven't even really heard all that much surrounding the star player linking him with any other NFL teams.

It looks like Newton isn't panicking though. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the quarterback is staying patient as he searches for the right fit.

It would make sense that Cam Newton would wait until after the draft. There are a few teams with pretty obvious needs at the quarterback position. However, most of them have been linked to quarterbacks in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

So Newton would not want to work out a deal with one of those teams, just to find out they drafted a quarterback in the first round a little bit down the road.

It will be interesting to see how this all turns out though. There's still a chance Newton signs before the draft, but it's much more likely teams will want to wait until after.

And if that's the case, it will be interesting to see how the draft plays out. Will teams still go for quarterbacks as heavily? Or will a few teams be more comfortable waiting to see if someone falls to them, knowing they can sign Newton if they don't get their guy?

Newton has been an MVP and made it to a Super Bowl. He's a top talent at the quarterback position when healthy. With that said, he can absolutely change a franchise. It makes sense that he is waiting for the right fit because that might mean another shot at a Super Bowl.
