Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson made a reputation for himself with his generosity both on and off the field. It appears the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has done little to change his philanthropic efforts in the community.

Johnson recently left a $1,000 tip on a $37 bill at the reopened Havana's Cuban Cuisine in Cooper City, Florida, via NFL on ESPN:

It is safe to say that Johnson is a man of the people. Of course, those that follow him closely on social media are already familiar with his generosity.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has started to ease restrictions around the state in an effort for a return to normalcy. Regardless, restaurants are only allowed to meet 25 percent of their dine-in capacity. It is safe to say that the lack of customers has had some major repercussions on the amount of tips waiters have become accustomed to living on.

Fortunately, Johnson opted to take matters into his own hands again. The restaurant took to Facebook to thank him for his patronage:

“We would like to thank Chad ‘Ocho Cinco' Johnson for his continued patronage. We greatly appreciate your generosity to our employees now during these most difficult times. Many blessings to you and your family. Thank you again.”

Johnson was one of the top wide receivers of his era and his charismatic approach to the game made him one of the best entertainers in NFL history. While many pegged him as somewhat of a diva due to his boisterous personality, his selflessness is indicative of the true character he possesses.
