Colin Kaepernick has been one of the most vocal advocates against racial injustice. And the free-agent quarterback wasn't among the people celebrating July 4th on Saturday. Instead of celebrating, Kaepernick delivered a strong message on Twitter about July 4th.

The last time Kaepernick suited up in the NFL was in the 2016 season. The reason he was blackballed — and continues to be blackballed — is due to him kneeling during the national anthem. Teams viewed him as a distraction rather than listening to the message he was conveying.

Despite sacrificing his NFL career, Colin Kaepernick continues to speak out against racial issues in America. When George Floyd died in the custody of the police, Kaepernick was among the athletes to share his thoughts on the matter.

The July 4th holiday is an American tradition that involves celebrating the inception of the Declaration of Independence. At the same time, people across America wave their American flags to show support for their country.

However, since he began kneeling in 2016, Kaepernick expressed that the flag doesn't currently represent the values of the founding fathers. In the pledge of allegiance, it states that we are “one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. Seeing that there continues to be African Americans dying in police custody, Kaepernick believes in fighting for everyone's rights to be the same.

Given the recent climate, there are reportedly teams interested in bringing in Kaepernick in 2020. Although, Kaepernick signing a contract with an NFL team doesn't appear to be imminent. While he waits for an opportunity to return to the NFL, Kaepernick continues to speak out against the issues in America.
