Colin Kaepernick is doing everything he can to get another shot at the NFL. He's been working extremely hard as he hopes to get a call from a team that's willing to give him another opportunity since he last played back in 2016.

Right now, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback understands that he's no longer the star he once was. So much has changed in the span of six years and at this point, Kap knows that it's going to be a major challenge for him just to get back in the league.

One man Colin Kaepernick is looking at is Los Angeles Lakers veteran Carmelo Anthony. According to Kap, he sees himself following the same path Melo took in terms of resurrecting his career.

“I know I have to find my way back in,” Kaepernick responded (h/t Jonathan Sherman of Lakers Daily). “So, yeah if I have to come in as a backup, that’s fine. But that’s not where I’m staying, and when I prove that I’m a starter, I want to be able to step on the field as such.”

Anthony was out of the NBA for several months before he made a sensational comeback. At that point in time, more than a few folks thought he was done. The 10-time All-Star worked his way back in a major way and right now, he's part of one of the most esteemed franchises in the NBA.

Kaepernick himself believes he's capable of bringing his own career back to life, just like Melo did. However, the big difference is that, unlike Anthony who has accepted his role as a backup player now that he's nearing the end of his decorated career, Kap believes that he has a lot of gas left in the tank. Collin Kaepernick is adamant that he's going to be the starting quarterback of an NFL team in the near future.
