Free agent running back and kick return specialist Darren Sproles is taking his time mulling over his future in the NFL.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter told 97.5 The Fanatic (via Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith) on May 30 the ideal scenario: Sproles suiting up with one of his former teams again.

I think he'd like to go back to one of the teams he's played for in the past – the (Philadelphia) Eagles, the (New Orleans) Saints, or the (Los Angeles) Chargers.

I think at the appropriate time when a team comes calling, he will be willing to listen to what they have to say. Right now, it's not like he thinks, ‘I got to be at OTAs in Philadelphia or OTAs in New Orleans.'

If somebody wants him at the appropriate time, I think he'll be enticed to wind up playing.

Darren Sproles playing for one of his former teams is an interesting scenario. It would be interesting to see him in a Chargers or Saints uniform again.

Sproles told the Press of Atlantic City's Dave Weinberg (via Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper) back in March he and the Eagles have “had some talks.” Sproles added, “I'm going to wait until May before I make my decision. We'll have to see.”

The 35-year-old Sproles has spent the last five seasons with the Eagles. He has played in just nine games in the past two years due to injuries.

It's almost June and Darren Sproles has kept football fans in suspense. Will he play again or will he retire? Stay tuned.
