It remains unclear whether Darren Sproles will play this season — the running back is mulling retirement — but recent Instagram videos appear to give the impression that he hopes to be back on the field.

The former Philadelphia Eagles running back recently shared videos on Instagram that showed him working out with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Chicago Bears backup Chase Daniel.

The videos, which were originally posted on Tuesday by San Diego-based strength and conditioning coach Todd Durkin, show Sproles, 36, catching passes from Brees and Daniel.

Sproles is currently a free agent. Earlier this month, Sproles indicated that he wanted to continue playing if the right situation popped up, though he had previously said that last season would be his final campaign in the NFL.

Sproles was sidelined for 10 games last season due to a lingering hamstring injury. However, once he was able to return to the lineup in Week 13, Sproles contributed as a change-of-pace back. The veteran running back produced 120 rushing yards, 160 receiving yards and three total touchdowns last season.

The Eagles could have interest in bringing him back, and he previously played with Brees for the Saints as well from 2011-13. Regardless, the aging playmaker will probably take his time to decide what will likely be the final team he signs with.

Sproles is currently sixth on the NFL’s all-time all-purpose yards list. He needs just 163 yards to move past former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown for the fifth spot. Of the five players ahead of him, four all Hall of Famers.
