Former Washington Redskins star cornerback DeAngelo Hall officially announced his retirement earlier this week. Despite a stellar career, he admittedly had one regret.

Hall's claim to fame was when he tied an NFL record by registering four interceptions in one game courtesy of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. According to Sherree Burruss of NBC Washington, he feels he would be a shoe-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame if he played against Cutler more often:

“If I’d played against Jay Cutler more, I’d be in the Hall of Fame,” Hall said.

It is clear Hall has a sense of humor about the whole situation. However, it is safe to assume he and other cornerbacks may potentially feel that way.

Hall made a name for himself as one of the fastest players in the NFL. His blazing speed was one of the reasons why he was selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. He quickly proved to be much more than that after earning a trip to the Pro Bowl in just his second year. Hall eventually signed with Washington following a brief stint with the Oakland Raiders and became their top cornerback almost immediately.

He finished his career with 43 interceptions, five return touchdowns, and three Pro Bowls in 14 seasons. Although Hall enjoyed an extremely successful career, it seems he is well aware that the Hall of Fame is out of reach. However, he will always be able to take solace in the fact that he is still an NFL record-holder thanks to Cutler.
