Tom Brady has been at the forefront of NFL players that have continued to hold private workouts despite the NFLPA advising against it. After releasing a statement last week, DeMaurice Smith sent a strong message to Brady and other players that are still conducting workouts.

As Smith told to Mackenzie Salmon of USA Today Sports, he doesn't believe players' private workouts are of the best interests of the NFLPA. Besides Brady, Russell Wilson and other players continue to post videos on social media of themselves working out with teammates.

Earlier this week, Malcolm Jenkins said ‘isn't comfortable' having the 2020 NFL season as it currently stands. However, on the other hand, Brady and Wilson are still holding private workouts. As a result, that's made it tougher on the NFLPA to negotiate specifics for player safety in the upcoming season.

Of course, the NFL wants to do its best on avoiding players contracting COVID-19. At the same time, they have to put guidelines in place for when a player does test positive for the coronavirus.

If a player tests positive before or after training camp, is that considered a work-related injury? Would players be covered by workers comp if they tested positive for the coronavirus? These are questions that Smith and the NFLPA are trying to get answers for.

But if players continue to hold workouts, then that could put training camps and the upcoming season in jeopardy. With that being said, Smith had made it clear where he stands on Brady and Wilson holding private workouts.

It remains to be seen if Brady, Wilson, or other players take Smith's message seriously.
