Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts hopes to see former teammate Kareem Hunt get back on track after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hunt was let go by the franchise following TMZ's release of a video that showed the second-year running back shoving and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel earlier this year.

Roberts and Hunt played together in college at Toledo before embarking on their journeys in the NFL.

And Roberts is hoping that things will turn around for Hunt following an unfortunate situation.

From Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press:

“Way above my pay grade,” Roberts said Monday when asked if he expects Hunt to play again in the NFL. “I just hope he does. I know this is what he wants, what he strives for. We were together when we had nothing, so I just wish him the best and also to not take any attention away from the woman, I hope she mentally is dealing with it well as well.”

Hunt went unclaimed on waivers on Monday after officially being eligible to join another team.

However, he is still on the Commissioner's Exempt List, which means that he would be unable to play or attend games should he join another team.

He had 181 carries for 824 yards and seven touchdowns this season while catching 26 passes for 378 yards and seven scores.

Hunt was the NFL's rushing leader during his rookie season in 2017, but there are certainly plenty of unknowns now when it comes to his return to the league.
