In the weeks that have followed the release of the video that showed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt shove and kick a woman, there has been plenty of details to emerge.

One of which was that the NFL had trouble getting a hold of the video before it was acquired by TMZ Sports. This was a notion that was only further confirmed by NFL's chief disciplinary officer Todd Jones, according to Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Journal.

These comments also bring up the point that the NFL had been aware of the video the entire time but chose to not pursue the matter further in other regards. The league didn't decide to interview Hunt or the woman involved about the matter, which is also a puzzling part of the equation.

This is a serious matter that involves him potentially harming a woman that the NFL had gone in the direction of letting it slide toward being something that didn't even draw a suspension from the league.

Instead, the league only decided to act upon this situation when the video was posted by TMZ Sports. This had put them and the Chiefs in a difficult spot of having to act upon the new revelation that quickly resulted in him being placed on the Commissioner's exception list.

Meanwhile, Kansas City had cut him on the Friday prior to Week 13 action against the Oakland Raiders.

This was just a situation that could have been handled better by the NFL and the Chiefs. In fact, Kansas City had taken Hunt by his word that he had been in a physical altercation with the woman to which the team responded that one of the reasons for his release was that he wasn't completely truthful.

All in all, this is hopefully a matter that the league learns from moving forward.
