The NFL recently announced that there will be 17 regular-season games beginning in 2021. Now, it has been revealed that one of the teams who will take part in one of their international games is the Atlanta Falcons.

With schedules expected to be released later in the offseason, Field Yates of ESPN reported that the Falcons will be playing one of their home games in London.

It was already known that the Falcons were going to have home games in 2021 against the Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Washington Football Team. It remains to be seen which team Atlanta will face for their upcoming contest in London.

Over the years, the NFL has made a concerted effort to have international games to expand their viewership. For the most part, the league has had the Jacksonville Jaguars take part in international games as part of a contractual agreement that both sides had.

With the 17-game schedule being announced, the Falcons were given a game against the Jaguars. However, it was discovered that Atlanta's game versus Jacksonville will be a road contest, meaning that the Jags won't be their opponent overseas.

In Arthur Smith's first season with Atlanta, the rookie head coach will now get an opportunity to coach in London. However, this isn't the first time he has been part of a game overseas, as he did so when he was an assistant with the Tennessee Titans.
