The NFL has seen each team cut down their rosters in order to get to that magic number of 53. One of the more surprising cuts was Cam Newton, who the New England Patriots let go on Tuesday as they begin the new era of Mac Jones as the team's quarterback.

Well, former NFL star Asante Samuel got brutally honest and ripped Bill Belichick in the process after Newton was let go.

WOW. Samuel said that the Patriots head coach is basically nothing without Tom Brady. Of course, the Belichick-Brady duo was one of the best in NFL history and were the team to be in the past couple of decades.

The Patriots did miss the playoffs in 2020, Brady's first season away from New England, and went on to win a Super Bowl in his first stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Is Samuel right with these comments?

Only time will tell, but Mac Jones has a lot of people buzzing after he essentially pushed Newton out the door with his strong play in the NFL preseason. Regardless, Asante Samuel is just speaking his mind and surely there are others that agree with him.

The regular season kicks off in less than two weeks, and all eyes will be on Mac Jones and the New England Patriots to see if Belichick is “just another coach.”
