It’s been less than a week since defensive end JJ Watt became a free agent after being released by the Houston Texans, but the recruitment to secure his services is already in full swing.

Multiple teams have already expressed interest in signing Watt, and in a tweet to his followers, even the 31-year old is surprised at how fast things move during free agency.

Of course, JJ Watt could also just be referring to the NFL’s free agency in general and not his own status as a free agent after a decade playing for the Texans. But the three-time Defensive Player of the Year is more likely referring to his own free agency, which has seen teams and even players express their desire for him to join them.

Among the teams that have reportedly expressed interest in signing the five-time Pro Bowler are the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, with Portland Trail Blazers guard and Browns fan CJ McCollum even supporting the potential signing. Aside from these teams, Watt’s younger brother TJ of the Pittsburgh Steelers also hinted at his desire to play with his older brother. With the Steelers also having Watt’s other brother Derek in their lineup, Pittsburgh is the likely favorite to sign the five-time First-Team All-Pro player.

But as JJ Watt himself said, free agency is wild, and there are many things that can still happen in what should be a long and interesting offseason for one of the best defensive players of his generation. As crazy as free agency has already been for him, it’s bound to get even wilder as teams and players scramble to sign him to boost their defensive units.
