Since being let go by the Los Angeles Rams near the tail end of the 2016 season, former head coach Jeff Fisher has yet to get back into the league in any capacity.

In the last few days, Fisher has reportedly been in talks with Fox Sports to be in the broadcast booth next season. According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post, the 60-year-old is expected to call the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets game alongside Dan Hellie in Week 4 of the 2018 campaign.

Former NFL coach Jeff Fisher will be part of Fox’s NFL coverage, but it will not be a big role — at least initially.

Right now, Fisher is scheduled to be an analyst on one NFL game during the first half of the upcoming season, sources told The Post. He will be paired with play-by-player Dan Hellie on the Jets-Jaguars broadcast on Sept. 30.

This will mark the first time that Fisher has had the opportunity to be apart of the broadcast booth for an NFL game. It is likely a trial run for him given that he has no previous experience as there is no barometer of expectations for Fox Sports.

Despite his struggles to find success in his last head coach tenure with the Los Angeles Rams, Fisher does have a plethora of knowledge of the game having been both a player and coach in the league. He will likely be used to provide insight throughout the game in critical situations while bringing a more comprehensible understanding to the average NFL fan.

It is a chance for Fisher to move to another career path away from the sidelines if he's able to showcase that he has a future in the booth. This is a unique opportunity that could put him another public light away from his struggles in the last stop as an NFL head coach.
