Free-agent running back Jeremy Hill is still looking for a home, largely as a result of an ACL tear he suffered during the 2018 campaign with the New England Patriots.

However, Hill is expecting to get medical clearance soon and is saying he will be back at some point.

“I think for me coming off a big ACL injury, I’m just doing what I can to get back to 100 percent,” Hill said Wednesday, according to Herbie Teope of The New Orleans Advocate. “I know there’s going to be a job waiting on me when I get cleared, so that’s all I’m doing now. I’m just trying to get healthy and once that happens, I’ll be back. I’m pretty close. I’m about eight months out of surgery, so hopefully soon.”

Hill played just one game with the Patriots before suffering the injury.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (55th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

His NFL career got off to a great start, as he racked up 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 5.1 yards per carry during his rookie campaign. The following year, Hill's efficiency dipped dramatically, as he totaled just 794 yards while posting 3.6 yards per attempt, but he still scored a league-leading 11 touchdowns on the ground.

Hill spent the first four years of his career in Cincinnati, with his tenure with the club ending in November 2017 when he was placed on the injured reserve list due to an ankle injury. He signed with the Patriots that ensuing offseason.
