Through the first seven weeks of the season, veteran wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has been without a job in the NFL that didn't seem to have clarity about where his next opportunity will come.

This will now have to wait until next season as he has undergone surgery for a hamstring injury, which will end his availability for this campaign, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Free agent WR Jeremy Maclin is undergoing a procedure on a hamstring/glute injury that’s kept him from working out for teams. He won’t play this season. Expects to be ready for 2019.

Maclin had been let go by the Baltimore Ravens at the start of the offseason he struggled to produce in the 2016 campaign. Since then, he hasn't had any serious interest from around the league that had seen him go through nearly the first two months of the seasons without another landing spot lined to continue his NFL career.

It has been a struggle for Maclin to produce at a high level over the last two seasons as he has recorded fewer than 45 receptions and 550 receiving yards and just five total touchdowns over that span. In his lone campaign with the Ravens, he had posted career-lows in catches (40), yards (440) and yards per catch (11.0). Beyond his struggles to produce on the field, he had dealt with nagging injuries over the last couple of years that have contributed to his inability to play at a high level.

Prior to the last two years, he had posted back-to-back campaigns with at least 85 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards while hauling in 18 touchdowns over that span. Maclin will be on the open market next offseason eyeing a chance to rekindle his NFL career to showcase that he still has plenty left in the tank.
