NFL Hall of Famer Kurt Warner made headlines when he shared a conversation about potentially returning to play. However, he has since done what he can to silence the rumors.

Needless to say, there were plenty of reactions to Warner's words. He attributed all the noise surrounding his fake comeback to a “slow news day” on Twitter:

It is hard to see why Warner would be confused about all the attention it got. His comments about considering coming out of retirement to play at age 47 were clear as day. That said, they would have never picked up any real steam had they not come from his mouth.

Furthermore, it is not the first time Warner has overcome insurmountable odds to succeed in the NFL. His professional career got off to a slow start with brief stints in the AFL and NFL Europe. He finally got his opportunity with the then-St. Louis Rams and never looked back.

After his time with the Rams came to an abrupt end, Warner fell out of the picture once again. However, he managed to bounce back once again after leading the Arizona Cardinals to a Super Bowl appearance before ultimately retiring in 2010.

Although his comments about a return were certainly far-fetched to begin with, NFL fans know all too well not count Warner out from anything. Given the career expectancy of today's quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Drew Brees, it would not be too much of a surprise if one of them attempted to keep playing until they reach Warner's age.
