Kyle Van Noy will be one of the most sought-after linebackers on the open market once NFL free agency opens up next week, but he has some specific wants, even when it comes to the New England Patriots, with whom he has resided since 2016.

While speaking with Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Van Noy said he wants to feel valued:

“It is interesting, but I’m going to be honest: I want to be a priority for a team and I feel I have to go where someone is going to make me a priority,” Van Noy said. “I’m sure New England knows that. If that opportunity comes, it comes. I’ll be frank; I don’t see myself waiting around. I’m pretty sure those guys aren’t going to wait around either. They’re really good at their craft. They’re at the top of the league at their position so it’ll be interesting.”

Anybody who has paid any attention to football over the last couple of decades knows that the Patriots have no problems recycling through players, even if it means letting stars go.

Van Noy is no different, and he seems to understand there is a chance he will be playing his football elsewhere in 2020.

The soon-to-be-29-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 56 tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a couple of fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

Van Noy, who played his collegiate football at BYU, was originally selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round (40th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He was traded to New England midway through 2016, where he has flourished ever since.
