Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted out a memorandum that states the revised COVID-19 testing protocols for the NFL. This will be utilized to verify unconfirmed positive tests and determine a false positive as well. As of the time of writing, the Tweet has gained 68 Retweets / comments and 125 Likes.

The memo was sent by Dr. Allen Sills, the chief medical officer of the NFL. The document expounds the stricter measures that will be taken by the league moving forward. Here are the five notable details:

1. Test results that are “presumptive positive” or “inconclusive” will be considered as “positive”.

2. The 30-day testing exemption period for a previous COVID positive individual will start from the date of the known positive test.

3. If a (NFL) player tests positive and is asymptomatic, he must stay out of the facility and isolate at home until the confirmatory test results are released. If only both results are negative, then the individual may resume all normal activity with granted access to the facility. However, if the confirmatory test comes out positive, then the test will be considered as a confirmed COVID positive already.

4. Individuals who conduct consecutive club visits must receive two negative tests within 24-48 hours prior to entering a club facility.

5. All players must use face masks at all times when in the club facility. They are only allowed to remove this when physical activity prevents their use. In addition, face shields may be worn for additional protection, but they are not an acceptable substitute for face masks.
