The Seattle Seahawks managed to take care of business against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round. Unfortunately, it was an outcome that could have been changed drastically had Carson Wentz been able to remain in the game after the hit by Jadeveon Clowney.

Wentz was sidelined after taking a hit to the back of the head from Clowney that did not even draw a flag on the play. The NFL is still currently reviewing the hit, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

The news, although it really isn’t news, is that the NFL is reviewing for potential discipline the hit applied by Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. The news that will be news is what the NFL does about it.

There is no question that Wentz getting hurt early on had a severe impact on the overall outcome of the game. Regardless, the biggest question was how Clowney had not been flagged after seemingly spearing Wentz with an illegal. Officials determined after the game that Wentz did not make more of an effort to give himself up after establishing himself as a runner on the play.

Although Clowney has since denied any malicious intent behind the hit, the damage had clearly already been done. The Eagles were without their starting quarterback while he spent the rest of the game recovering from a head injury.

The situation has kept Clowney in the headlines for a variety of reasons. He recently said the Eagles ‘have the worst fans in the world' to expressing that he wouldn't be surprised if he received death threats for the hit.
