LeSean McCoy is hardly the same talent he was early in the 2010s, when he made a pair of All-Pro teams while leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage in 2013.

Despite being relegated to a second-string role, however, “Shady” said he would like to play for two more years during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio (via Matt Howe of 247 Sports):

“I really just want to play two more years,” McCoy said. “If it doesn’t go well, just let your body talk to you. My body feels fine.”

McCoy signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs last season after he was released by the Buffalo Bills. He started in nine of 13 games, averaging a very respectable 4.6 yards per carry while also scoring five total touchdowns. But it was the team success that McCoy reveled in, as he would win his first Super Bowl.

The Chiefs did not re-sign McCoy this offseason–they were already beset with salary cap limitations–so he is back on the market.

McCoy noted he has a couple contending teams he would like to sign with, though he said the timing was difficult. Naturally, this is a reference to the inability to set up workouts with teams around the league due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 31-year-old might have to accept a backup or hybrid role, though he seemed to work well in tandem with Chiefs running back Damien Williams before Williams became the feature back during the playoffs.

Regardless, McCoy is intent on playing a couple more seasons, so long as his body can hold up.
