Free agent cornerback Logan Ryan is trying to sell himself hard to all 32 teams — but not for the position he is known for.

In an e-mail to all 32 general managers, Ryan's agent sent the stats of some of the highest rated safeties in the league and asked them to compare them to Ryan.

In the spreadsheet there are several top safeties listed, including Tyrann Mathieu, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Devin McCourty. Next to each player are all of their stats, including games played, tackles, sacks, passes defended, interceptions, and forced fumbles. At the bottom are Ryan's numbers to compare to.

Some of the more notable numbers include the fact that Ryan had more pass deflections and forced fumbles than any of the safeties on the list. He also had more sacks than all but two of the safeties; Jamal Adams and Derwin James from 2018. He also had more interceptions than 16 of the 23 on the list.

The numbers compared to the top safeties in the league are impressive. While some can be argued are influenced by his position, with corners being involved in plays more often than safeties, this chart may influence a general manager to take a chance on the eighth-year pro.

Also in Ryan's favor is his willingness to change positions. This would give general managers and head coaches more flexibility with their defense having a player that can play multiple positions and be successful in either role. It looks as though Ryan has a good concept of how to get a new team. Now the question is if a team will decide to do anything with the information.
