In the absence of sports, “The Checkdown” has been simulating the 2020 season via the Madden 20 video game, and the sim has reached its epic conclusion.

The Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will battle for the virtual Lombardi Trophy. But there is a twist: real players from both teams will hit the sticks to decide a winner.

Ravens receiver Marquise Brown—who recently won a Madden tournament consisting of athletes and rappers—was challenged by Bucs Pro Bowl wideout Chris Godwin.

The two will duke it out on a livestream hosted by Snoop Dogg and Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. The action begins Wednesday night.

This very well could be a preview matchup of the real Super Bowl next February.

Baltimore had one of the busier offseasons of any team in the NFL. The Ravens acquired Calais Campbell from the Jacksonville Jaguars and also signed Derek Wolfe to add depth on the front seven.

First-round pick Patrick Queen has also been hailed as a guy who fits well in Don Martindale's scheme as potentially the next great Ravens inside linebacker.

Plus, the Ravens still have reigning MVP Lamar Jackson leading one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in football, and Brown should be cut loose after concerns about a previous Lisfranc injury limited him last season.

The Bucs, meanwhile, got perhaps the biggest fish in free agency: Tom Brady. Tampa Bay signed Brady to a two-year deal, giving Godwin and fellow Pro Bowler Mike Evans arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

The Buccaneers also made a move to acquire Brady's former tight end, Rob Gronkowski, from the New England Patriots, and they re-signed a host of defensive players to replenish a defense that ranked fifth in DVOA last season.
