The NFL is trekking forward as if the 2020 season is going to begin as scheduled on September 10. And they'll need to make sure everything is put into place. While the league continues to discuss the details of the upcoming season, the NFLPA is requiring agents to provide guidelines on COVID-19 risks to the players.

Throughout the offseason, multiple players in the NFL have tested positive for the coronavirus. Recently, it was revealed that members of the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tested positive for COVID-19. Both teams conducted private workouts, thus making it more likely for them to contract the disease.

Shortly after the recent uptick in positive tests, the league advised players to refrain from conducting private workouts. Despite their efforts, players like Tom Brady and Russell Wilson have continued to hold workouts with teammates.

On the other hand, Malcolm Jenkins — among others — have expressed their concern about playing the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic. With player safety needing to be the league's No. 1 priority, the NFL wants to make sure their players are well-informed. As NFL Network's Tom Pelisserro points out, agents will have until mid-July to speak to the players.

Similar to other leagues that are returning soon, the NFL could have players choose to sit out in 2020. At the least, before a player decides to sit out or not, they should be educated on COVID-19 and the risks that come with playing next season. Of course, the NFL is also making sure they aren't held responsible if a player does test positive during the season.
