Through the first five weeks of the 2018 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs are the last two undefeated teams in the league.
High expectations have been placed on both franchises as they continue their quest to compete for the Super Bowl. With that in mind, BetOnline.ag has posted the latest betting odds for either the Rams or Chiefs going the entire season undefeated.
Although these two teams are off to blazing starts, the task of putting together an undefeated season is quite difficult. Only the 2007 New England Patriots have done it since the NFL moved to a 16-game regular season (the 1972 Miami Dolphins went 14-0 in the regular season before winning Super Bowl VII). What makes this bet more intriguing is that the Rams and Chiefs play each other in Week 8 on Monday night in Mexico City.
The Rams and Chiefs have respectably both been led by their explosive offenses that are arguably the best two units in the league behind the stellar play of their quarterbacks. In his second campaign, Patrick Mahomes has taken the league by storm with his play, passing for 1,513 yards with a 63.6 percent completion rate and a league-best 14 touchdown passes to just two interceptions while ranking fifth with a 112.7 passer rating. Mahomes is squarely in the MVP conversation as the clear-cut betting favorite at the moment. He has been the head of the snake for a talented offensive group that features wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins, tight end Travis Kelce, and running back Kareem Hunt.
Meanwhile, Jared Goff has taken the next step in his development in his third year, as he currently leads the NFL with 1,727 passing yards while placing second with a 72.3 percent completion rate, third with 12 passing touchdowns, and second with a 119.7 passer rating. Goff has been on a tear leading the charge with his arm for the first-ranked total offense through the first five games. Los Angeles also possesses a plethora of talent offensively with wide receivers Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods along with running back Todd Gurley.
If these two teams continue to stay on their torrid pace offensively, it could very well see one of them potentially vie for an undefeated regular season.
