The 2018 NFL season came and went for running back Orleans Darkwa. Fortunately, he appears to be ready to make a comeback in the 2019 NFL season.

Darkwa spent last season recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered while trying out for the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, he is fully healthy and ready to test the market:

Former Giants RB Orleans Darkwa, who tore his Achilles working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars in October, is said to be “100 percent” recovered from the injury and ready to sign with a team.

This is certainly an encouraging development for Darkwa. He has struggled to find his footing since his departure from the New York Giants. Fortunately, it seems he is ready to enjoy a potential resurgence.

Darkwa started his career as an undrafted free agent before signing with the Miami Dolphins. After his rookie year, he signed with the Giants and took on a minor role in the backfield early on. He was eventually able to make his bones by establishing himself as their go-to option in the run game. His best year came in 2017 when he rushed for 751 yards and five touchdowns on 171 rushing attempts. Perhaps even more impressive is that he did behind a makeshift Giants' offensive line.

The injury may make it difficult for Darkwa to find any immediate opportunities that will give him a chance to contribute. There is no question that the value of the running back position has seemingly dwindled in recent years. Regardless, it does not hurt for teams to shore up some depth at one of the most grueling positions in the sport. It will be interesting to see if Darkwa ultimately gets a chance with a team.
