There were a number of teams that had been linked to former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown this offseason. It appears the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tennessee Titans were among the most serious suitors outside of the Oakland Raiders.

There was no shortage of interest in a player of Brown's caliber. Brown's agent Drew Rosenhaus said on theThe Boomin Experience Podcast that he was going to make a trade happen with either of the aforementioned teams if the deal with the Oakland Raiders fell through:

“If it's not the Raiders, then we'll make it work with the Eagles, or the Patriots, or the Titans.”

The prospect of Brown joining any of these teams would have certainly shaken up the balance of power in the NFL. It is safe to say that most fans are happy with how the process ultimately played out.

Pittsburgh seemed adamant that there was no chance they were sending Brown to the New England Patriots considering their history as AFC rivals. The fact that they were one of Rosenhaus' finalists indicates that they were close to making the Steelers an offer they could not refuse.

Although the Titans do not present as much of a danger as the Patriots do, the Steelers may have wanted to avoid giving quarterback Marcus Mariota a premier weapon to work with. Meanwhile, the Eagles are certainly no strangers to making offseason splashes. However, it appears Brown's price tag was a bit too steep for them to take on.
