Although Jason Witten has left the confines of the Monday Night Football booth to rejoin the NFL, former quarterback and future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning won’t be replacing him, despite many fans and media hoping so.

According to Michael McCarthy of Sporting News via Pro Football Talk, Peyton Manning won’t be joining the Monday Night Football broadcast booth next year, although McCarthy did note that it would take a miracle of some sort to convince him to do so. At the moment, though, it seems as if he won’t be doing it.

The main reason for Manning not committing to the broadcasting side has to do with his family, as he reportedly does not want to comment on games while his brother, Eli, is still playing.

The New York Giants currently have two games on the 2019 Monday Night Football schedule, so Peyton would at least be tasked with doing two of those should he have done it.

After Witten left the booth earlier this year to make a football comeback, ESPN has yet to announce any major changes to the commentary booth. With the NFL Draft coming up this week, many things that ESPN could announce their new booth members there, with May 13 being the latest date thanks to it being the annual “up-front” presentations by major networks for advertisers.

Either way, we’ll know soon who will be taking Witten's place, but we can at least cross one name off of the list.

Perhaps once Eli retires from the game, his brother will finally make his way into the booth.
