The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings finished as the two best teams in the NFC North in the 2019 NFL season. Despite their dominance in the division in recent years, some changes could be on the horizon.

The Detroit Lions currently own the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and plenty of cap space to boost their roster this offseason. According to Ben Linsley of Pro Football Focus, they are the team most primed to go from worst-to-first in the 2020 NFL season.

Getting a healthy Stafford back next season to get the ball into the hands of downfield playmakers Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. should be a huge boost to this offense. With a high draft slot and a decent amount of cap space to work with, there's an opportunity for the defense to improve, as well. It’s not difficult to see the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings taking a step back next season, and that opens the door for Detroit to potentially host its first home playoff game since 1993.

The prospect of Detroit finishing atop the division as soon as next year seems a bit far-fetched coming off a disappointing 3-12-1 season. Regardless, there is no denying that they have all the pieces in place to spark a potential resurgence, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

The Packers seemingly exceeded expectations when they made it to the NFC Conference Championship, however, their lackluster performance against the San Francisco 49ers in both games made it clear that they still have a number of voids to fill. Meanwhile, the Vikings have struggled to get over their playoff hump in recent years and are due for a setback in the near future.

Although the Lions will not be sleeping on any team next year, the Chicago Bears suffered a major setback in 2019 and will also have their fair share of questions to answer this offseason. Of course, the onus will ultimately fall on head coach Matt Patricia to show that he is the right man for the job.
