With Super Bowl 53 approaching, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has finally spoken out on the controversial no call in the NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately for the Saints, the outcome of the game never had a chance of being altered according to Goodell.

It's surprising news considering how many individuals came out and said how blatant the pass interference penalty was against Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman. The call was likely game-changing and the Saints have not let it go. If the call was made, the Saints would have been very close to the goal line and they likely would have scored.

There's no way of knowing for sure, but there's a good chance the game could have been drastically different if the officials hadn't missed the call.

It's safe to say with calls like this being missed, the commissioner should do his part in making some changes so this doesn't continue to happen. The fact that it was never an option for him to review the call or enforce a replay is alarming. This was not just a regular season game and a different team could be in the Super Bowl.

Goodell has had his critics speak out in the past, but this is a universal mystery as to why nothing was done about the missed call and why Goodell stayed silent for as long as he did. There needs to be some sort of change in regards to situations of this magnitude.
