Former NFL and high-level college head coach Steve Spurrier is now leading a team that is part of The Alliance of American Football. With the new professional football league getting off to quite the start over the weekend, Spurrier's Orlando Apollos quickly became the talk of the town due to a huge 40-6 win over the Atlanta Legends.

While already stringing together a few hilarious moments along the sideline, the veteran head coach perhaps made his biggest splash at the podium. Wasting absolutely no time at all, Spurrier made a point to take a jab at his former team in the Washington Redskins, who have more often than not encountered some tumultuous seasons over the years.

After serving as the head coach at both Duke and Florida between 1987 and 2001, Spurrier then notably made his way to the NFL ranks as the head coach of the Redskins in 2002. Remaining in our nation's capital for one whole year and two NFL seasons, Spurrier then returned to the collegiate ranks en route to signing on with the South Carolina Gamecocks, a stint that would range from 2005 to 2015.

While the majority of his success obviously came at the collegiate level, Spurrier's time in Washington remains at the forefront of his coaching career. During his two-year stint with the Redskins, he produced a dismal 12-20 record — compared to a 228-89-2 overall record as a collegiate head coach.

Though Steve Spurrier is only 1-0 as a head coach in The Alliance of American Football, it appears as though this will be a match made in heaven.
