With the 2021 NFL trade deadline quickly approaching, teams around the league are looking to strike deals to improve their rosters. In a surprising turn of events, the Houston Texans have officially traded veteran running back Mark Ingram to the New Orleans Saints, where he rejoins Alvin Kamara.

According to Tom Pelissero, the Texans will be receiving late-round future picks while the Saints acquire Mark Ingram to improve their backfield.

It's not the most exciting trade, nor is it the Houston trade everyone is on edge to see. However, this seems like a smart deal for both franchises. The Texans receive much-needed draft capital to help them with their rebuild. Meanwhile, the Saints get Mark Ingram, a veteran running back already familiar with the offensive scheme.

Additionally, Ingram and Alvin Kamara are former teammates who played alongside each other in New Orleans once before. The Saints offense has been putrid for the most part, as Kamara essentially carries the team on his shoulders week in, and week out. Now, he should have some viable help in the backfield.

With the trade deadline on November 2nd. we should see a handful of more deals being made. Numerous teams have needs and are rumored to make a move. For the Texans and Saints, they reached an agreement on a fair deal for both franchises. We should see more trades coming through before the deadline, with all eyes still on Houston.

For now, the Saints' offense should improve, as Alvin Kamara has a much more efficient backup behind him. This will allow the superstar running back to take some breaks, giving him fresher legs as the season plays out. The Texans on the other hand have no hope for a postseason run, so they'll take as many draft picks as they can get.

All eyes are on Houston as the NFL trade deadline looms in the near distance.
