It appears as though Tim Tebow will be playing baseball in New York after all during the summer of 2018. Upstate New York, that is.

Get ready good folks of Binghamton. It's Tebow time.

Mike Puma of the New York Post had the news first. The New York Mets have officially optioned Tim Tebow to the minor league Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Tebow, 30, was selected 25th overall by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft. After a rookie season that saw him play in nine games and start just three, he miraculously led Denver to a wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The mile-high feeling didn't last long. The following offseason, John Elway opted to bring in Peyton Manning which eventually led to a Super Bowl championship.

Tebow has since been an employee of the New York Jets (as a backup quarterback and glorified special teams player), the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, only seeing on-field action in New York.

Just a couple of seasons into his new career, Tebow is slowly progressing through the ranks. His starting point at Double-A Binghamton this season marks the highest level for Tebow to open a baseball season.

In his short NFL career, Tim Tebow compiled 2,422 yards, 17 touchdowns, nine interceptions on a porous 47.9 completion percentage while finishing with a career 1-1 mark in the postseason.
