Clemson's top gunslinger in Trevor Lawrence has already proved his mettle and his huge upside to pro football scouts. If anything, he can just choose to skip the upcoming season and will still likely to end up as the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Despite the current situation of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the third-year quarterback is still all in and committed to leading his team back to college supremacy.

“Yeah, I think everyone’s thought about it just with everything going on,” Lawrence said, via the Greenville News. “But since I made the decision to play, I haven’t thought about it again. That’s my decision. I’m committed.”

“It really depended on the guidelines that the NCAA and teams put in place,” Lawrence said, “and also how the schedule was going to look, whether or not we were going to be able to play a full season. All those things kind of factored in.”

Several collegiate football players have already decided to sit out the upcoming season. Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, Miami defensive end Greg Rousseau, Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley and Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Batemen have already decided not to play for their respective teams.

Trevor Lawrence hopes to continue to build on an already-prolific collegiate career. He was named to a second-team All-ACC selection in 2018 and a first-team All-ACC selection in 2019. He was also a two-time ACC Champion and a CFP National Champion in 2018, where was also hailed as the offensive MVP.

However, Lawrence saw a disappointing ending to last season's campaign. He lost the first game of his career in the CFP Championship Game against Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers, as Clemson snapped its 29-game winning streak and lost 42–25.

Despite the odds and uncertainties heading into the upcoming season, Lawrence is still hoping to pen a fitting end to his collegiate career with the Tigers.
