Trevor Siemian has fully recovered from the gruesome ankle injury he suffered earlier in 2019 and is ready to hit the free-agent market, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Siemian, who spent this past season with the New York Jets, was filling in for an ill Sam Darnold in Week 2 when he took a hard hit from Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett, resulting in torn ligaments in his ankle.

But now, Pelissero notes that specialist Dr. David Porter has given Siemian a clean bill of health for 2020.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Northwestern, was originally selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round (250th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He spent his first season behind Peyton Manning, but the following year, Siemian took over under center following Manning's retirement, starting 14 games and throwing for 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 59.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 84.6.

Siemian then made 11 appearances and 10 starts in 2017, finishing with 2,285 yards, 12 touchdowns and 14 picks while completing 59 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 73.3. His season came to an end in Week 15 due to a shoulder injury.

That ensuing offseason, Denver traded Siemian to the Minnesota Vikings, although Siemian did not play for the Vikings at all in 2018, as he was backing up Kirk Cousins.

He signed with the Jets last March.

Trevor Siemian certainly will not be sought as a starter this offseason, but he absolutely represents a capable backup and will almost surely find a home somewhere.
