The last time we saw Vontaze Burfict, he was playing for the Oakland Raiders and was ejected from his team's Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts after delivering a late hit to tight end Jack Doyle.

Burfict was suspended for the remainder of the season as a result, but now, the linebacker is trying to work his way back into the NFL and understands he may have to change his play style to stick around.

“Obviously, I wasn’t happy about the suspension, so I’m just trying to make sure it doesn’t happen [again] and see what I can actually do to make sure I can fix it,” Burfict told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. “There is a way you can change, bro. There’s a way you can change in making a sure tackle and just not letting him run you over.”

Burfict has accrued a hefty 13 suspensions over the course of his NFL career and is widely regarded as one of the league's dirtiest players, which he said “bothers me a lot.”

But apparently, Burfict is committed to changing his ways, so it will be interesting to see if a team decides to give him another chance this offseason.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012.

His first couple of years with the Bengals were terrific, particularly his second season when he racked up an NFL-leading 171 tackles en route to his one and only Pro Bowl appearance.

Since then, however, Vontaze Burfict has played no more than 11 games in any one individual year due to suspensions and injuries. He was cut by the Bengals last year and signed a one-year deal with the Raiders.
