The Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars play in an inter-conference battle on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Falcons-Jaguars prediction and pick.

The Falcons and Jaguars come into Week 12 of this NFL season with little hope of a playoff berth. The Falcons have lost two straight games in embarrassing fashion by a combined score of 68-3. Jacksonville and Atlanta have both lost two straight and three of their last four. One of these teams will stop their skid on Sunday (unless we get a tie) and get back in the win column. Matt Ryan and Trevor Lawrence will each look to get back on the right track after a slew of disappointing performances over the last week weeks. The Falcons, despite their recent struggles, come into this matchup as slight favorites over the 2-8 Jaguars.

Why The Falcons Can Cover The Spread

Matt Ryan is the far better quarterback in this matchup. The problem for the Falcons is, he doesn't have a ton of help. Rookie tight end Kyle Pitts has been a bright spot, as was Cordarrelle Patterson before he hurt his ankle. Patterson is questionable heading into Sunday, and that will be a huge thing to watch as he has been the Falcons' best skill position player this season in the absence of Calvin Ridley. Atlanta's defense doesn't do them any favors either. The Falcons allow the second most points per game in the NFL, and they have faced one of the easiest schedules so far this season, especially if you look at the quarterbacks they have faced.

The Falcons have a good shot to win and cover vs. a bad Jaguars team, but they aren't so great either. Atlanta is 4-6 against the spread this season. Check on the final status of Patterson before making a play here.

Why The Jaguars Can Cover The Spread

Jacksonville has had a weird season. They have two wins, one in London and one over the Buffalo Bills. This would seemingly be another spot where the Jaguars could pick up a win vs. a struggling Falcons group. The Jaguars have allowed 265 passing yards per game through the air this season, and obviously Ryan can hurt you through the air if he has a clean pocket. The Jaguars will need Josh Allen and the defensive front to generate pressure on Ryan to disrupt his rhythm. If they are able to do that, the way the Patriots and Cowboys were able to the last couple weeks, or at least to some extent, Jacksonville could have a good shot at a cover and a win on Sunday. If Lawrence can take care of the ball, the Jaguars might be able to lean on James Robinson vs. a weak Falcons run defense and pull out this win in this spot at home.

Jacksonville is 4-6 against the spread this season, and they have a decent shot to cover as home dogs this week vs. the scuffling Falcons.

Final Falcons-Jaguars Prediction & Pick

Take the Jaguars and the points at home this season. The Falcons have struggled immensely on both sides of the ball recently, and should not be trusted as road favorites, even over the Jaguars.
