The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs will go at it for some exciting Sunday football action. This was supposed to be a big matchup between former MVPs, but unfortunately, the odds have changed since Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19. But that doesn’t mean we won’t continue our NFL odd series and make a Packers-Chiefs prediction and pick.

Before Rodgers was ruled out, the Packers were on a roll winning their last six games. They’ve had great games and ones where they looked mediocre but ultimately, they’ve managed to get the job done. They’re now first place in the NFC North standings and have enough room for a couple of Ls before they fall behind the standings. Their task now is to try to stay afloat while Rodgers remains in protocols.

Meanwhile, it’s been the opposite for the Chiefs who have struggled all season. They’ve surprisingly already lost four games and now find themselves catching a break after Rodgers’ unfortunate trip to the health and safety protocols. Still, the Chiefs’ defense still has a lot of work to do and nobody is really convinced that they’re the current best team in the AFC West. Nevertheless, the Chiefs have been to two straight Super Bowls and if there’s anyone that can lead them through adversity, it’s Patrick Mahomes.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the Packers-Chiefs odds:

NFL Odds: Packers-Chiefs odds

Green Bay Packers: +7 (-110)

Kansas City Chiefs: -7 (-110)

Over: 48 (+110)

Under: 48 (-110)

Why Packers Could Cover the Spread

Unless Green Bay finds a clone of Aaron Rodgers, it’s going to be difficult for them to outperform Mahomes and his offensive line. Jordan Love, the Packers’ backup quarterback is still very much inexperienced and has huge shoes to fill. The only way the Packers can cover the spread is if Matt LaFleur can come up with game plan to help Love succeed and the Packers’ defense can at least contain the Chiefs’ lethal offense.

Why Chiefs Could Cover the Spread

Because Rodgers won’t suit up — it’s really as simple as this: Kansas City just got the biggest break of their season so far but it’s unfortunate that it had to be this game because a Packers-Chiefs match is always must-see TV. Either way, Mahomes should have a field day vs. an inexperienced quarterback. Andy Reid will for sure come up with a game plan that will help them put ahead of Green Bay early. Expect guys like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to come up big for the Chiefs as well.

Final Packers-Chiefs Prediction & Pick

Losing Rodgers just guarantees that Kansas City will take this one unless something dramatic happens to the latter. It’s just so hard to imagine the Packers being able to stop the Chiefs’ elite offense while producing their own points. Mahomes is on a mission to get his team back to the winning column and he’s definitely going to take every advantage he can vs. a Rodgers-less Green Bay team.

FINAL CHIEFS-PACKERS PREDICTION & PICK: Chiefs -7 (-110)
