Week 11 of the NFL will see two NFC teams go head-to-head. The New Orleans Saints will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Saints-Eagles prediction and pick.
The New Orleans Saints are one of the more surprising teams at this point in the season. They are on a two-game losing streak but prior to that were 5-2 on the season. The team is now without Jameis Winston for the rest of the season and so it's going to be difficult to continue their success. The Saints will now take on an Eagles team who is streaky but has shown signs of improvement over the course of the season.

The Eagles are 4-6 on the season but are fresh off of a great win over the Denver Broncos. The Broncos dominated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 and then slumped against the Eagles the following week. That shows you how difficult it is to stay consistent in the NFL. This matchup is a favorable one for the Eagles as their offense is starting to come alive.

Why The Saints Could Cover The Spread
Despite not having Winston under center, the Saints are still playing well offensively. Trevor Siemian threw for just under 300 yards and two touchdowns in the 23-21 loss to the 1st place Tennessee Titans. The offense is in rhythm and still getting the job done. The Saints' defense on the other hand, isn't playing very well. They are struggling to force turnovers and can't stay off the field. It's going to take a better effort to beat the Eagles because the Philadephia offense is playing well.
The Saints can cover this spread by getting the run game going and feeding Mark Ingram all game long in the absence of Alvin Kamara, who will miss his second straight game due to injury. The Eagles don't stop the run very well and so this will need to be a game where the Saints ground game dominates. We've seen him score five touchdowns in one game before, so we know it's possible. I'm not saying he needs to score five on Sunday but a multi-score game would seriously give the Saints a good chance of winning this game. The saints are 5-4 against the spread this year.
Why The Eagles Could Cover The Spread
The Eagles can cover this spread by continuing to let Jalen Hurts make plays and control the offense. That seems like a simple statement but the Eagles are a very confusing offense. They've had games where they've rushed the ball less than 10 total times while having games where they handed it off 30 times. The Eagles game plan changes week-to-week but one thing needs to stay consistent and that is allowing Hurts to control the game. He can escape the pocket and run very well. His connection with DeVonta Smith is getting better and better and that is a factor to keep an eye on this week.
If the Philadelphia defense can shut down Kamara then the Eagles will be in a good position to cover this spread. Siemian is playing well for the Saints so it's not going to be easy. Despite their two straight losses, the Saints are playing sound football and are not committing turnovers. That will always be a recipe for success. If the Eagles can force even one, then that could be the deciding factor in this matchup.
Final Saints-Eagles Prediction & Pick
This is going to be an exciting game to pay attention to. Both of these teams are right in the middle of the pack and have a chance to make the playoffs. It's going to take a bigger effort from the Eagles cause of their 4-6 record but a win this weekend boots their chances tremendously. I'm taking the Saints this weekend, however. I think the Saints will bounce back and win a close game. It's going to come down to the fourth quarter and I think the Saints defense steps up big time late in the game. I also like the over in this game as I think both offenses will be in rhythm all game long.
