December football is finally upon us! The New Orleans Saints take on the New York Jets in an interconference matchup. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Saints-Jets prediction and pick based on Saints Jets odds.

After starting the season 5-2 and beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints have lost five-straight games and are quickly losing their playoff hopes. They will get a chance to bounce back with a favorable matchup against the Jets on Sunday. Last Thursday night the Saints fell to the Dallas Cowboys 27-17. Taysom Hill threw four interceptions which was ultimately the reason for the loss. Whether it's him or Trevor Siemian under center, the Saints' offense needs running back Alvin Kamara to return if they want to have a chance at winning.

The Jets are 3-9 on the season and don't have much to lose the rest of the way. New York scored two early touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and then of course missed both extra points. Even if it goes right for them it also goes wrong. The Jets did play well early on in that game which is a good sign, however, they didn't score the rest of the game. The Jets clearly have a long way to go but they have another chance at a win this Sunday against the declining Saints.

Here is how FanDuel set the Saints-Jets odds for this Week 14 NFL matchup.

NFL Odds: Saints-Jets Odds

New Orleans Saints: -5.5 (-110)

New York Jets: +5.5 (-110)

Over: 43 (-106)

Under: 43 (-114)

Why The Saints Could Cover The Spread

New Orleans can cover this spread because Alvin Kamara is returning to the team. He is a game-changer to this offense and they will certainly get back on track with him in the backfield. If they decide to let Taysom Hill start again then he will have to limit those interceptions. He is an athletic QB who can escape the pocket but his decision-making needs to be better. The Saints' defense needs to force Zach Wilson to commit turnovers. Wilson has 11 interceptions on the season even after missing multiple games with an injury.

New Orleans really needs to take advantage of this favorable matchup and win. Their 5-7 record puts them in the 12 spot in the NFC. A win this week could move them up and give them a better shot at the playoffs in five weeks. They are also 5-7 against the spread this year.

Why The Jets Could Cover The Spread

The Jets' biggest factor in winning this game is limiting all turnovers. They can't seem to avoid losing the ball at least once a game and that is a huge reason for only winning three games. The Jets have a chance to take advantage of the Saints' losing streak and win their fourth game of the season. They are also 3-9 against the spread this year but are getting six points at home on the spread.

Wilson will really need to step up because he will be without receiver Corey Davis for the rest of the season. Elijah Moore is playing very well as a rookie and his value will go up a little. Either way, if this Jets' offense is to improve they need to switch up the game plan and put Wilson in positions to complete easy passes. Their defense should keep it a little close because the Saints' QB's can't avoid the turnover big either. Depending on the Kamara situation, the Jets could be a better option than the Saints this week given the spread.

Final Saints-Jets Prediction & Pick

The Saints should cover this spread and with Kamara getting a majority of the carries he could be in for a great game. The Saints placed Mark Ingram on the Covid-19 list, however, so he likely isn't going to play Sunday. That will possibly mean more touches for Kamara and with the Jets' defense at the bottom of the NFL then the Saints should score some points. I expeext the Saints' defense to limit Wilson as well so I'm also taking the under on points in this one.

Final Saints-Jets Prediction & Pick: Saints -5.5 (-110) and Under: 43 (-114)
