Movement is the theme of our NFL Power Rankings heading into Week 5, as a number of teams that showed promise through the first three weeks of the season came back to reality in Week 4. Perhaps no outing was more disappointing than that of the Los Angeles Rams, whose seemingly stout defense was shredded for 55 points by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Conversely, the Chicago Bears, who barely escaped an 0-2 start, have put together back-to-back gems on defense and appear to be a contender again, regardless of Mitchell Trubisky's status.

At the quarter point of the season, almost half the league (13) is 2-2, with really only the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs separating themselves from the pack at the top. After that, the New Orleans Saints have impressed during Drew Brees' absence, and the Philadelphia Eagles made a statement with their victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Other notes:

  • Biggest jump came from the Eagles, who rose eight spots with their win in Green Bay.
  • Biggest drop came from the Indianapolis Colts after their disappointing effort at home against the Oakland Raiders.
  • While most of the teams who lost in Week 4 fell in the power rankings, the Buffalo Bills (15 to 11) and the Detroit Lions (17 to 12) each rose after holding their ground and nearly coming away with victories over the NFL's best two teams.
