Free agent wide receiver Martavis Bryant is in danger of getting suspended for a year by the NFL due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Martavis Bryant is facing a yearlong suspension for his latest violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, a source told ESPN.

The NFL is reviewing the matter and could issue its ruling as early as this week, according to a source.

Bryant is still only 26, but he’s probably played his last game in the NFL, thanks to his number of off-the-field issues. He has already received a pair of suspensions due to the same infractions, and a third one could be the final nail in the coffin of his NFL’s career.

Martavis Bryant was traded by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders for a draft pick last April. The Raiders, however, waived Bryant earlier this month, as news broke out that the wideout is facing a year-long suspension. Under a new head coach in Jon Gruden, the Raiders didn’t want to start the 2018 season with any distractions, so cutting the talented but troubled wideout was not that surprising at all. The Raiders also knew that they were not going to sweat Bryant’s absence since they have the likes of Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, and Seth Roberts on their roster.

Martavis Bryant, who was banned for the entire 2016 season for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse, played 15 games for the Steelers last season and came up with 603 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 50 receptions.
