It has been a busy last few days for wide receiver Terrelle Pryor as he was cut from the New York Jets due to a groin injury that he had recently suffered that the team thought would keep him off the field for a few weeks.

However, Pryor has voiced that he has been in contact with a few different teams and believes that he could be back on the field Week 9 action if he signs prior to that point, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Free agent receiver Terrelle Pryor said he is nearly ready to return to action, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Pryor’s progress has him thinking he could play as soon as Sunday.

In his first season with the Jets, he had put limited production with just 14 receptions for 235 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The hope was that he could capitalize on the one-year deal to prove himself, but injuries have once again played a factor. This has been the case in the 2017 campaign with the Washington Redskins where he saw his year end prematurely due to an ankle injury that required season-ending surgery.

Pryor has a chance to latch onto another team where he could be a bigger factor in the passing game. When healthy, he has proven to be a viable receiving option that could utilize his size and strength in the red zone. This is also another chance to prove that he is worth a lucrative multi-year deal with another franchise. He could also latch onto a team that is competing for the playoffs.

The 28-year-old is just two seasons removed from his breakout campaign in 2016 with the Cleveland Browns where he notched 77 receptions for 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Since then, he has played in 14 games where he has 34 receptions for 475 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
