Cam Newton is still hoping to land a job as a starting quarterback for the 2020 season. But he also took some time to work on his basketball skills earlier this week.

Newton pulled up for a run with Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley and rapper-hooper Quavo on Tuesday.

Newton has worked hard to stay in top physical condition during the offseason. He worked out with Cleveland Browns wideout Odell Beckham Jr. last week and frequents Instagram with posts about his workout routines.

Gurley is also looking to maintain his condition after passing a physical administered by the Falcons two months after he first signed with the team.

But while Gurley has his own proving ground in Atlanta, Newton is still hoping just to get an opportunity. The outlook is not great.

Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Chargers might have been ideal fits for Newton, who would like to remain a starter. However, the Jags are committed to Gardner Minshew, and the Chargers have shown more interest in signing Colin Kaepernick than bringing in “Super Cam.”

Cam Newton faces an uphill. But he is staying ready, in any and every way possible.
